He's on a Roll

Adam was a roll with vehicles this weekend. On Saturday night he slid into a Trailblazer with his truck and left a nice dent in his front bumper. According to him "he was barely moving and braked 15 feet ahead of time" Hmmmm...

Today he drove my Forester into a snowbank on the way to his parents. He claims the snow on the road just kind of "took him away". (secretly I think he was looking for deer). Hmmmmm....

We ended up like this.

When we finally came to a stop I was somewhere between laughing and crying. We had to call Adam's dad to come haul us out of the ditch. Nice. The snow was up to my passenger side window.

He's not allowed to drive anymore.

Where does it go?

Where or where do the weekends go? We got together for my brother Scott's birthday on Friday night at Buffalo BBQ Wings in Jackson. Joining the fam were Kristin & Mark and Sam & Henry. Great food, fun atmosphere, and even better company :) After that my dad stayed at our house so we could stop by Nicole's "game/drink and chat night". Bummer we had to leave early to relieve my dad and miss the raunchy Loaded Questions game .

Saturday Adam went to the MSU basketball game with Joel and I went to the MSU gymnastics meet with my parents. More on Adam's weekend later. Grace ran around with Nana and the girls on the floor and went to dinner at Harrison Roadhouse with Mama and Papa. She is getting quite brave lately and is not intimidated by any situation. She will pretty much wander away and go and talk to anyone. She thought it was great fun being out on the floor at the gymnastics meet. Probably not my brightest idea since she can't be out there during competition. Adam took her home before the meet started but it should be interesting what she does in a couple of weeks at the Alumni meet.

Today we went to breakfast at our usual Roxy's Cafe and made a trip to Target. We need to figure out how to integrate church into this routine. I looked up information on Westwinds this afternoon and I think we might check it out soon.

I also picked up my camera to take a few photos of miss G since I feel like I haven't taken any in a while. And low and behold she was being cooperative instead of running away from me. For once I got some eye contact and smiles! She has figured out that she can see herself on the LCD screen after I take the picture and she wants to see it. She points to herself on the screen and says "baby". HAHA.

We also went to Adam's parents for dinner. Grace and Alexis had fun on the sit-n-spin. All we have to do is say, "Do you want to go see Alexis?" and Grace goes and gets her shoes and is ready to go. She loves her cousin!!

Marquette

Last weekend we were crazy people and drove 8 hours through the night, in a blizzard, with a 17 month old, to Marquette, MI. We went to visit our really good friends from when we lived in East Lansing, Dan and Kelly. Dan worked with Adam at UPS and they became our first real "couple friends" after we were engaged and married. Dan and Kelly are the type of friends that are just so easy to be around and we have such similar personalities and interests. We really miss them now that they have moved 8 hours away to Marquette!

The original plan was for only Joel and Adam to go to snowboard with Dan. Kelly really wanted Grace and I to come too so we decided to infringe on the boys weekend. They have two kids: Luke who is 3.5 and Joslyn who is just a month older than Grace. We haven't seen them since Luke was a baby!

Kelly and I were on kid duty while the boys snowboarded. Three young kids stuck indoors all day makes for some crazy mommies! We were breaking out the rum and cokes and wine at 5 o'clock every day-lol! We did take the kids to a really neat children's museum in town. There was a pretend grocery store, slides representing the digestive system, and turtles and snakes they could touch.

Grace had her first tantrum in public while we were there. That was not so cool. Everyone looking at us as I try to pick up her wet noodle body off the floor. Oh well, I have officially endured the toddler tantrum and the stares that come with it. It is a right of passage as a mom, right?

Indy

I mentioned in an earlier post I have been traveling the last couple of weekends. One of my best buds, Lori, turned the big 3-0 on January 5th so Mere, Kristina, and I went to Indy to help her celebrate! As usual we were crazy and a little out of hand. We started at a Mexican restaurant for dinner where I made all the waiters sing to Lori while wearing a Sombrero. She was a good sport :) We also got to meet a few of her Indy friends, Heather and Marcus.

Next up was a Martini bar where we met up with a few more friends. We then decided to go to a bar where bull riding was an option. The place was empty (Thank God) so when I split my jeans there weren't too many witnesses. Didn't stop us though, we were determined to beat our time of 10 seconds!! Never rode a mechanical bull? Good times, I highly recommend it. I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants.

Happy 30th Ru-Ru!!!!

I'm Still Here

My husband informed me I am being a blog slacker. It has been kind of a rough week or so, I echo Nicki's sentiments. I have had an awful sinus infection, Grace was sick last week, I have been traveling the last two weekends, and between work, bills, house, and kid there was just no time to blog!! Excuses, excuses, right? :)

I have pictures and posts to share from the last two weeks but in the meantime here are some pics of my silly baby with a cabbage patch shoe on her foot. Yup, she INSISTED on wearing it home from my mom and dad's yesterday. After walking around with it on like she had a peg leg- lol! What a nut!!

Yoga Starts Monday

I have decided I am taking Yoga on Mondays. It is with some sort of women's group in downtown Jackson at City View Condominiums. I found the group through "pink-heels.com". The woman I emailed back and forth with was extremely excited about me joining the class so hopefully that is good sign? It is $10 for one or $5 if you bring a friend. AND they have tea afterwards- LOL. Would anyone like to join me?

Goals for 2009

I always am very interested in people's New Year resolutions. I am not usually a resolution kind of gal but I do like to set some goals for the year. Last year my goals were to meet some mommy friends, loose that baby weight, and earn my biggest bonus check at work. I did pretty good at meeting all of those goals. My favorite resolution was in college when I vowed to try or learn something new every day. That was really fun and allowed me to grow as a person. I have been watching too much Oprah and I am trying to stick with that theme so this year my goals are as follows:

1. Exercise and get in touch with my spirituality. I would like to find a church that we like and a church community to be a part of. I want to attend church as a family and have my children grow up with a strong faith like I did.

2. Exercise my body by learning a new way to exercise. I hate going to the gym. Cardio bores me to tears. After being an athlete for so many years I kind of got burned out on working out. I am joining a yoga, pilates, or dance class and I am going to stick with it and hopefully even enjoy it!!

3. Learn how to use my Canon Digital Rebel SLR camera. I bought it in April and for the most part I am still on auto. I have read some things here and there but I need help. Major help. I WILL learn how to use all those settings!!

Well, now that I put them out there I have to stick with them. What are your New Year resolutions / goals?
