Summer Fun

Despite having newborn twins we have managed to do some fun things this summer. I have to document them here because I am sure I won't remember due to the lack of sleep. The babies had their first trip to Cascades for Family Fun night. The Barczaks joined us for ice cream before and the kiddos had fun climbing the hills next to the falls and watching the water change colors.

We also had the 2nd annual "Mother of All Playdates" at Nicole's. It has been fun playing stay at home mom this summer with all my teacher, part-time, and stay-at-home  friends :)

The Nursery

Many moons ago I promised pictures of the twins nursery. My wonderful friend LeeAnn took on the project of making the baby bedding for me. The beautiful quilt is hanging on the wall and she also did quilted bumpers for each crib with coordinating crib skirts. My mom made the vallances for me. I also have each of the girls names above their cribs but for some reason didn't take a picture of those.

I just love the way the room turned out. It is so different from Grace's room, I was a little over pink :) It is so  cheerful and bright.

We ventured out to Nixon all us girls to meet up with Nicole, LeeAnn, and their boys. People pretty much just look at me like I am nuts when I go anywhere but I gotta get out of the house!!

Mere comes to visit

Mere and her mom came to visit us. She brought us Jimmy Johns for lunch and a yummy mexican casserole for another night. It was so good seeing her. We had fun taking pictures of my little handfuls :)

Mere's little bug Maelyn sleeping in the Pack n Play. These babies are going to have so much fun playing together someday.

My Girl G

I cried and cried the day before I was induced with the twins. Yes, I was slightly hormonal but I was also soooo worried that Grace was going to hate her sisters and hate us for bringing them into her world. All that worry for nothing because she just loves them to pieces. Sure, she does little things to get our attention but for the most part our happy, blissful child has just taken it all in stride. She is such a blessing.

and Jilli Bean:

It is so funny how they sleep in the same position. We had a major milestone in that they are nursing in tandem!! LeeAnn was over watching the Bachelorette (she still likes to see the babes every week even tho they aren't in my belly, lol) and we managed to get them both latched on at the same time!! This saves me so much time!!! What a relief :)

People have been so kind and generous bringing us dinner. We haven't had to cook hardly at all it it is such a big help. Nicki set this up and I can't thank her enough and for all that volunteered. We have had such yummy meals :) You grow 2 humans and people cook dinner for you...what a deal!!!

4th of July '10

We managed to get to the lake this year for 4th of July. There was the annual rib fest which was awesome as usual. Lots of family to hold and snuggle the babies. They loved it out there, nice and hot and always someone to hold them. There were happy and content as could be. Everyone marveled at how tiny they are. My response to that is yes, they may may look small but imagine both inside of you :) Miss G got some much needed time out of the house and got to play with her cousins and have some time away from her sisters.

Happy Fourth!!

1st Days at Home

We have been hanging in there her at the Dawson household. Still can't quite believe we went from a family of 3 to a family of 5 in an instant. I look at these 2 baby beans and can't believe that they were inside of my body just a few days ago.

They are really good babies. Very sleepy right now so we don't see eyeballs very often. They definitely have their days and nights confused but they will figure it out. Breastfeeding has been a challenge. We are continuing to syringe feed both babies after attempting to nurse them. Our little peanut, Miss Lyla, is doing much better than Jilli, Jillian is still not latching on at all. We have been visiting the lactation consultant which has been a huge help and relief. Julia has been so supportive and really has given me the confidence that I can breastfeed twins. It has not been easy, however, the whole process of trying to nurse each baby, syringe feed, burp, change, and pump takes 1.5-2 hours. Then an hour later we start the whole process over again. 24 hours a day. Luckily my mom is staying with us and thank the good Lord for her :)
They are just the sweetest, so fun to cuddle and snuggle. I love to just stare at their perfect little faces. They like to be in the boppy together. I swear I did not position them like this, they just kind of migrated towards each other so they were touching foreheads. We have found that they are happiest when together so we have been putting them in the same crib.

Big sister Grace is doing great. She loves to kiss and snuggle them too. She really enjoys holding them in the boppy like a big girl and gets mad when someone comes to visit and she doesn't get a turn holding one of them.
I had my first outing with them by myself when we went to the pediatrician when they were 5 days old. I did pretty good, getting them there on time, carrying both car seats, and juggling 2 babies while talking to the pediatrician. I was feeling pretty good about myself until I came outside and saw I left the back hatch of the mini van up the whole time I was in the office, lol.

We also had our first outing as a family to Scott & Nicki's for a BBQ. People think I am pretty much insane for taking out 5 day old twins. BUT, it was family and it was good to get out of the house for a while.
