Melt My Heart

As if this child could melt my heart any more. She started saying "I yuve you mama" about a month ago. I love you too baby... :)

Other G sayings:

  • Toothpaste, says it clear as can be and cracks me up every time
  • Baby cows at Uncle Jo's. Has been talking about the baby cows for going on 3 weeks now
  • Every morning she asks if she is going to Nana's house and as we pull out of the driveway she says "Bye Bye Dooley"
  • Mouse (we like to find the mouse in "Goodnight Moon")
  • Yeah. Says Yeah a lot. Always nice to have someone who agrees with you. Like "Mama is going to go to the grocery store" Grace, "Yeah". Hahaha
  • Mama do?
  • Help Mama
  • I poopy
  • Priey toes (pretty toes). Brings me the nail polish to paint her toes ALL the time
  • Soos and gocks (shoes and socks)
  • Cock (I kid you not- she means truck though, even better when she says Dada cock- OMG)
  • Bus. She looks for Ally to get off the bus every afternoon.
  • Birdie and kitty
  • Dukka (pacifier or mama's blackberry- maybe is is her word for special thing we cannot live without?!-lol)
  • Oh Bookie (said with exaperated tone)

I am alive

It's been an interesting week for me. Let me catch all of you up. Monday and Tuesday I was in Grand Rapids for a meeting. Wednesday while watching American Idol I started to feel a little funny- achy, chills, that sort of thing. My stomach hurt all night long and I awoke Thursday morning rushing to the bathroom (and not to throw up). Which I continued to do every oh about half hour or so ALL DAY. Fantastic.

Fast forward to 4 o'clock and I haven't been able to even get out of bed all day besides to go to the bathroom. Thank God my mom came by around noon to bring me Jello and soup and water. I was able to get the Jello and water down. I just felt worse and worse and started to get weaker and weaker. If I stood up everything went black and I felt all hot and tingly. About 8 pm I started throwing up and had to crawl to the bathroom to do so. It was then I crawled out into the hall to call my husband,

"Adam" I call weakly down the stairs.

Nothing.

"Adam...?" Ugh. I am going to die in the hallway and he is going to find me here. Finally he comes in from outside and I am able to get him upstairs. He comes upstairs and sees me sprawled out in the hallway between our bedroom and the bathroom and says,

"Are you trying to make it to the bathroom?" Deadpan. Like he sees me sprawled out in the hallway everyday.

Jane: "No, I am throwing up now and I can't stand up or move because I feel like I am gonna pass out"

Adam: "Oh"

Jane: "I think I need to go to the ER"

Adam...stands there... "Uhhhhh ....Ok"

Jane: "Is your brother home?"

Adam: "Yeah"

Jane (still laying face down on the hallway rug) : "Can you call him and ask him to come over here to sit with Grace?"

Adam: "Uh, yeah"

Adam just doesn't get too worked up about a whole lot (which in all honesty is something I admire about him) but JEEZ it's not like I am a drama queen and ask to go to the ER all the time. Dear God can I get some sort of action here without me, sick as a dog, TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO!! I guess its good he is that unflappable but most people would have a little more sense of urgency if they saw their wife incapacitated in their hallway. I love my husband with all my heart but literally the only time I have gotten any sympathy from him was when I was in labor for 14 hours, with no drugs, and birthed a 7.5 lb baby!!!

So, anyway, off to the ER we went. I had to be wheeled in in a wheelchair and got blood work and an IV bag of fluids started right away for the obvious dehydration. The labs came back with low potassium and a slightly elevated white blood cell count which could be an indication of a bacterial infection but there is no real definitive test. The nurse took my blood pressure at one point and it was 78/37! No wonder I was passing out!! They gave Zophran for the nausea, a bag of potassium, and some more fluids and I felt a lot better. My BP was up to 89 over something by the time we left at 1 am which is still pretty low but better than practically dead when I first came in.

So that was my weekend but I am doing much better now. By Saturday I felt almost normal. That is why things have been a little slow on the Dawson blog and it took me a week to get Easter pics up. I have mostly been tired and lacking any motivation to do anything besides sit on the couch or sleep. I will try to catch up here in the next week :)

Easter Pictures? Its about time..

Easter morning, Grace still has no clue what the Easter Bunny is all about but we hid her basket behind a chair anyway. She went right for the little baby doll and really could care less about everything else in the basket. LOVING her baby....such a good little mama.

We went to church with my mom and dad. Actually, to be more accurate we went to half of church. We decided the night before to go to the earlier service so Grace good get a nap in before brunch. Apparently we weren't clear on when the earlier service started- lol. Oh well, we made it for the message so we got there for the most important part, right?

After church we went to Arbor Hills with my mom, dad, Scott, Nicki, and the kiddos. They lasted about 14 seconds in their highchairs and spent the rest of the time running around like wild Indians. Family dinner just aint what it used to be :)
This picture cracks me up because it pretty much sums up Luke and G's relationship. They are always yelling, pushing, hitting, and generally bothering each other. They have their own little language that consists of guttural screams and grunts. It is absolutely hysterical to watch them together. But they really do love each other and miss one another when not around. Crazy kids. We went to Adam's Grandparents farm after brunch to hang with the Wilson side of the fam. It was beautiful outside so we sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine while Grace and Noah played. Is this little guy not a heartbreaker? The two of them looked like they belonged in one of those vintage greeting cards with the little boy and girl....you know the ones I am thinking of? Anyway, SO dang cute.

I am still learning to use my camera on manual and as a result am fiddling with it a lot so the battery died after these pics. I also just discovered curves in photoshop and that is what I did to give the last photos above their vintagey feel. Don't ask me how because I probably couldn't do it again if you paid me- hahahah.

We stopped one more place on our usual holiday wirlwind tour. Grandpa Dawson's house for his birthday celebration. Grace stood in the middle of the room with all those people and was a big ham. I am so glad that people are getting to see that side of her now.

Happy (very belated) Easter!!

Easter Eggs

Easter Egg Dyeing with a toddler sounded like a recipe for disaster to me. BUT, Little Miss Clean Pants was really good. She stood on a chair and helped daddy through the whole process. She thought it was great fun!

Question of the Day

I don't usually do this but I have a question for you there in blogland. For the last year we have been planning on going to Mexico in May with Scott and Nicki. They decided they couldn't go. Adam got layed off. We put our house back on the market. We decided probably not the best idea.

Adam was back working in three weeks. I found some really good deals online. I don't know when the next time that just the two of us can logistically go on vacation. We have the money. But we might need that money if we sell our house, or for a down payment. We are also going to NC as a family in August and camping as a family with friends in June.

What do you think? Would you go for it??

Just wanted to get some opinions.......

Bath Nuttyness

I told you she was crazy :)

Spartan Pride

We bleed green around here. Nicki got Scott and Adam tickets to the regional final games in Indy. They got to see some incredible games! As you can tell from the pics there were a lot of Louisville fans there. MSU has made us so proud. They may have lost in the final game but good Lord did they have a hell of a tournament.

The whole thing brought back a lot of memories for me. State won the National Championship when I was a sophomore in college. I remember running out onto MAC with thousands of other students and State fans and celebrating all night. It was a peaceful celebration (for once) and I will never forget the pride I felt to be a Spartan.

Yup, that's Adam with 6 girls! What a stud-lol!!

Warmer Daze

This was a couple of weekends ago when it was still somewhat nice out. For some reason we forgot we lived in Michigan and got out all of Grace's outside toys including her swing. Now they are all covered in snow. So depressing.

This kid LOVES to be outside. Literally from the day she was born she loved being outside. She slept for hours on our screened in porch as a newborn, when nothing else would make her happy Adam would carry her outside and she would quiet right down. She practically lived in her baby pool on the deck last summer. She must take after her daddy and be "outdoorsy". I can't wait until summer!!!

Papa's B-day

My dad turned 61 on March 17th, St. Patty's Day! I love that Grace is in the bottom corner of these pics. She loves her papa.

As you recall, it was beautiful that day so the boys (my dad, brother, and Adam) went golfing and then to the Buffalo BBQ Wings. It is kind of a family joke that no matter how many beers he has had he always claims he has had, "TWO BEERS!" Adam always looks forward to celebrating his birthday with him and they are quite the crew. Us girls who had to work all day met them after the bar for dinner at Scott and Nicki's.

Have I ever mentioned that my brother is a big dork? Here he is in Ally's Barbie car..........
